Our funding programs play an important role in our community, increasing access to sport and recreation to families, athletes, coaches, and sport and recreation organizations.

Support for families to help kids participate in sport, arts, and recreation.

Athlete Funding Opportunities

  • Athlete Participation Fund

    The Athlete Participation Fund helps familie manage the expenses associated with travel within and outside the Yukon for those competing as a representative Yukon athlete.

  • In-Territory Travel

    This program helps cover costs incurred for travel to Arctic Winter Games trials, Yukon representative team travel, and travel for all Yukon Championships.

  • Jamie Shaw Memorial Fund

    Named in honour of the late coach and teacher, this fund provides financial support for training and development for Yukon athletes.

  • Gerry Thick Memorial Fund

    Named for the Whitehorse City Councillor, this fund offers two $1000 grants annually to help Yukoners in their educational pursuits in the sport and recreation field

  • Canada Games Legacy Fund For Yukon Aboriginal Athletes

  • Jumpstart - Canadian Tire Individual Child Grant

Coach Funding Opportunities

  • Jamie Shaw Memorial Fund

    Named in honour of the late coach and teacher, this fund provides financial support for training and development for Yukon coaches.

Member Organization Funding Opportunities

  • National Sports Trust Fund

    This trust fund allows Territorial Sport Organizations (TSOs) and their members to establish revenue-generating programs able to issue charitable tax receipts.

  • Northern LYTES Youth Sport Development Fund

    This program provides opportunities for sport organizations to access training from Canada’s Olympic athletes and coaches by bringing them to host camps in the Yukon.

  • Lotteries Yukon Travel Assistance Program

    This fund assists Yukon people with travel expenses to compete and/or participate in adjudicated events within and outside of the Yukon.

  • Community Development Fund

    The CDF supports projects, events, and initiatives that provide long-term, sustainable economic and social benefits to Yukon communities.

  • Economic Development Fund

    The EDF supports projects and initiatives that provide long-term, sustainable economic benefits to Yukoners and Yukon communities.

  • Lotteries Yukon Project Fund

    The Projects Fund helps sustain and contribute to the growth of arts, sport, and recreation in the Yukon.

  • Lotteries Yukon Opportunity Project Fund

    This fund supports one-time, small, easily-managed events with a flexible, open application period.

  • City of Whitehorse Recreation Grant

    This grant provides funding for organizations to further improve and develop recreation opportunities for Whitehorse residents.

Air North Funding Opportunities

  • Air North Travel Program

    In the spirit of sport and team building, Air North, Yukon’s Airline wants to help you and your family get to your sports destination.

  • Air North GOAL Fund

    This fund provides selected Yukon athletes with travel certificates from Air North, Yukon’s Airline to assist them in their sport development.

  • Make It Happen

    Air North, Yukon’s Airline provides support for sport tourism events through the Make It Happen program.

  • Spirit in Action

    Through the Spirit in Action program, Air North, Yukon's Airline offers sponsorships and donation opportunities for sport groups.
