A Supporter of Sport

Gerry Thick was known by many in the Yukon as the manager of Northland Beverages or as a Whitehorse City Counsellor, but most knew him as an avid supporter of sport in the Yukon. He was closely involved with Softball and was instrumental in getting the Pepsi Softball Complex built in Whitehorse. He was also a member of the Arctic Winter Games International Committee for 29 years, most as its President, and was inducted in the Yukon Sports Hall of Fame in 1996.

The Gerry Thick Memorial Fund aims to continue Gerry's legacy by supporting Yukoners interested in becoming sport or recreation professionals. The fund will assist students in fulfilling their dreams of working in sport and recreation and bringing their skills and enthusiasm back to the Yukon.
