Yukon River Quest

Participants paddle 715 km on the Yukon River around the clock from Whitehorse to Dawson City with 10 hours of requisite rest.

What began in 1997 as a fun, historical retracing of the Gold Rush, this race has morphed into one of the top ultramarathon paddling races in the world. It regularly attracts paddlers from around the globe as they come to test their mettle through the remote Yukon wilderness. Categories include tandem, solo and four-person canoe, tandem and solo kayak, Voyageur canoe and SUP.

Annual Fall Boulding Competition

Join Climb Yukon for their annual Fall Comp at the PCSS Bouldering Gym. There will be climbing, music, draw prizes, scramble format with problems for all climbing levels, and the usual level of stoke (spoiler alert: it's high!)

Aboriginal Coaching Module

The Aboriginal Coaching Module is open to coaches of all levels, Indigenous or non-Indigenous, who work with Indigenous athletes. Offered as part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), this workshop delves into unique Indigenous cultures, values, and lifestyles, equipping coaches with the knowledge and skills to foster inclusive environments for their athletes.

Some key components of the ACM include:

  • Understanding the role of a coach in Indigenous communities

  • Building strong relationships with Indigenous athletes

  • Navigating cultural awareness and sensitivity in coaching

  • Strategies for holistic athlete development, including physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being

This certificate is mandatory for all coaches interested in being a coach for future North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) events.

The session will be hosted on Sunday, October 6th @ 8:30am – 5:00pm at the Yukon Aboriginal Sport Circle office in Whitehorse. If you would like more information, please contact info@yasc.ca.

2024 Recreation Gathering

The Recreation Gathering is an annual event that connects leaders from across the Yukon. Every year, RPAY strives to offer unique professional development and networking opportunities, cooperative learning, and fun! RPAY welcomes recreation practitioners, youth leaders, volunteer board members, local recreation authorities, and others who work across the territory in recreation.

This year's Recreation Gathering will take place in and around Whitehorse, on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation, the Ta'an Kwäch'än Council, and the Carcross/Tagish First Nation. Sessions will be held at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve and the Lorne Mountain Community Association. For additional information, please refer to the registration form. A detailed event schedule will be available in late August.

Canada Summer Games - TT Road Race

The countdown to Canada Summer Games 2025 is on, and CAY is assembling a team of dedicated young cyclists to take to St. John’s, Newfoundland. Join us for the Fall 2024 athlete identification series for road and MTB!

The road event takes place along the Miles Canyon Road on Sunday, September 22nd at 11 am. Race check-in opens at 10 am and pre-race talk happens at 10:40 am.

The event is open to male athletes born 2005-2009 and female athletes born 2003-2009, but there is an adult competitive category, as well.

The course will be 2 and 1/4 laps of a 9km loop incorporating Miles Canyon Road, Alaska Highway and Robert Service Way. Athletes should park on the west side of Robert Service Way, across from YEC’s LNG storage facility. Please take care crossing the road!

The annual Yukon Cross Country Championships is one of Athletics Yukon's most popular events

Location: Mt Mac Trails

Date: Saturday, September 21st. Sign in at 10:30am. Event starts at 11:00 am

All athletes must pre-register; there will be no day-of event registration.

Cost: Free for Athletic Yukon members and pre-authorized clubs (for authorization contact Kristen Johnston by email - president@athleticsyukon.ca )

Please note: You must have a 2024 Athletics Yukon Membership to participate. Visit our website to purchase your membership.

Events/distances for all ages (family friendly event). Distance varies by age category, but mostly follows a 1km and 2km Loop.

Super Equinox Event (Score O / Mini Rogaine)

What does Rogaine means? It stands for “Rugged Outdoor Group Activity Involving Navigation and Endurance”. It is essentially a long-distance Score-O type of orienteering event: you have a limited time to find as many controls as possible in any order and return to the finish.

Runners course all on trails or traditional Score O. A $5 YOA membership is required for insurance reasons.
