Knute Johnsgaard

Sport: Cross Country Skiing

Bio: Knute began skiing when he was five, with the Mount Lorne Ski Club and moved up through the Green and Blue Squads of the Yukon Ski Team as he got older. He is a very resourceful individual who can meet any challenges that come his way. He loves the Yukon and feels honored to represent the territory on a national level.

In 2014/15 Knute competed at the World U23 Championships and had the best result of any other U23 Canadian Male for the second year in a row, 14th in the 15km Classic.  Knute returned from Europe to claim Yukon’s first gold medal of the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

Knute’s outstanding results in the previous season helped him accomplish his life long goal of making the Canadian National Team.  Knute is one of only 12 skiers, men and women, on the team and the youngest male team member.
