Nicholas Rittel
Sport: Shooting
Year Received: 2012
Bio: Nicolas has been shooting for 7 years now, and although has medaled at Canadian Championships before, this past season was even more impressive. At the 2012 Canadian Rifle Silhouette Championships, in the Masters class (which is the highest division), Rittel finished first in two smallbore divisions and also won the hunter high power division in the AAA class. In addition he tied for second in the standard high power class, having to enter a shoot out for the final ranking.
Rittell set a Canadian record for pegging off 39 of 40 targets in the smallbore division, beating his previous 38 of 40 success. Nicolas then left for his first American Championships, earning two 7th place finishes, leading him to a 10 place finish out of 100 shooters. Finally, at the 2012 Silhouette National Championships in New Mexico, Rittell finished 7th in both smallbore and smallbore hunter Master division classes, setting him as the top Canadian finisher at the event.
