Bio: Usually moving up an age category can have adverse effects on a competitive athlete, but not so with Alex.  When Alex was younger, she moved up to the 13 and 14 age category and still had extremely impressive results.  At the 2006 Age Group Nationals, Alex was the highest female point scorer over all female swimmers over all age groups. Alex finished with an impressive record of 5 gold and 2 silver medals. Alex won medals for her performances in the 50m / 100m / 200m & 1500m freestyle and the 100 m fly; the silver medals came in the 400m & 800m freestyle. Also at the Western Canadian Championships in Winnipeg Alex continued to excel and she set many new records. In the mid distance 400 m freestyle and competing against athletes two years older than her, Alex obliterated the National Age Group record. At that same competition Alex set three more national and provincial records. In 100m / 200 m and 1500m freestyle.
