Aaron Jensen

Bio: As a youngster, Aaron started judo in the 1980s under the guidance of Chuck Mackenzie here in Whitehorse.  Aaron competed in many local and regional tournaments, and represented team Yukon in the nationals and other international competitions.  He earned his brown belt as an athlete and he earned his black belt when he started coaching in the 90s.

Aaron has been the head coach since inception of Shiroumakai, which is Japanese for Whitehorse Club.  Aaron has been a dedicated coach and mentor to numerous athletes for over 20 years.  Some of Aaron’s recent accomplishments are becoming a re-certified NCCP judo coach and certified judo referee.  He has recently helped develop athletes for Canada Winter Games, Canadian Judo Nationals and Canada Summer Games.  He has coached many judokas ranging in ages 5 to 70 years, to compete at the local to national levels.  His proudest moments are for his children’s participation in the sport and to the youngsters that have become active responsible community citizens.
