Team Special Olympics Yukon Soccer

Bio: The Special Olympics Yukon Soccer team attended the BC Summer Games, winning a silver medal.  This achievement earned them a spot at the 2014 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games. 

The team was prepared to do whatever it took to prepare themselves for this opportunity.  They trained multiple times a week, pushed hard in boot camps, played against Whitehorse Minor Soccer clubs throughout the winter, and never ever quit.  They went in to the Canada Games physically ready, and with their team work and determination intact, won the GOLD medal at the 2014 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games making them the first Special Olympics team ever from the Yukon to win a Gold at these games. 

The Special Olympics Soccer Team Yukon has bonded well as teammates on the field and as friends off the field. The team has learned that you not only win and lose as a team but the character and strength are built through this process.
