Bantam AA Mustangs Hockey
Year Received: 2022
Bio: The 2004-05 team consisted of a group of 19 very committed athletes who participated in a variety of activities and competitions to prepare them for their ultimate challenge at the British Columbia Amateur Hockey Association Provincial Championships in March 2005. Part of this preparation included not only on-ice practice, but as series of off-ice sessions with a sport psychologist, off-ice strength and conditioning training, and a high level of success in a series of tournaments at the AAA level that would prepare them for the provincials. As well as clean sweep of tournaments in Fairbanks and Anchorage early in the season this team made it to the semi-finals in the Langley Bantam AAA International Tournament in January 2005, won a Bronze medal in the Prince George AAA tournament and to cap it off won a Silver Medal at the BCAHA provincials in March 2005. In addition, six players from this group were invited to attend the BC Best Ever series of camps in their respective age group.
It may be noted that this is the first time a Bantam team from Whitehorse ever made it to the medal round at the B.C. Provincials. The Midgets did get to this level back in the early nineties.
The credit for this accomplishment should be extended the players, coaches, and managers of this very motivated and accomplished group of athletes.
