Gerry Thick

Bio: Gerry lived in the Yukon for over 30 years and was actively involved in the community and devoted to sporting activities since day one. He was an active athlete, primarily in hockey and softball. Gerry also coached, managed and organized sporting events.  He was a player/coach on the first senior men’s softball team from Yukon to win a silver medal at the Western Canadian Softball Championships. Gerry was also responsible for organizing Yukon’s first senior “AAA” hockey team and worked diligently to fill the arena in Whitehorse on many cold winter nights.

In 1985 Gerry was appointed Director of the Arctic Winter Games Corporation became the Treasurer in 1986 and was named President of the Arctic Winter Games International Committee (formerly, the Arctic Winter Games Corporation) in 1995. Gerry was also a hard working councilor serving the City of Whitehorse for two terms from 1986-1991.
