U19 Men’s Volleyball Team
Year Received: 2012
Bio: Most of these players have been playing together since grade 8 and this season saw all their hard work pay off! This team achieved more success at the National level then any other Yukon Volleyball Team ever has.
At the Western Canada Summer Games, in Kamloops, BC, these boys worked hard and won sets off the powerhouse provinces Saskatchewan and British Columbia. This team captured the Gold medal at the 2012 Arctic Winter Games here in Whitehorse, dominating the competition and going undefeated thorough the whole tournament. This was the first gold medal won by a Yukon team in 26 years! At the 2012 U18 Open Club Championships in Toronto the Yukon boys proved they were there to play and finished 17th out of 96 winning the division 3 title.
6 of these players have now moved on and are playing post secondary volleyball but the team is ready to come together again and represent the Yukon at the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrook. Way to go boys!
