Bio: Zach successfully finished his second competitive season back in 2006 with the Canadian National Cycling Team with very impressive results. Zach kicked off that season at the first World Cup event last November in Moscow, Russia where he placed 13th in individual pursuit and scratch race. In January of the following year, Zach attended another World Cup in Los Angeles where he repeated his 13th place in individual pursuit and placed 14th in the two person Madison event with his team mate Martin Gilbert. While these results earned him an overall World Cup ranking of 25th they weren’t good enough to ensure him a place on the Commonwealth Games team. To earn this distinction he needed a top 10 in the final World Cup event, just 10 days before the Games in Sydney, Australia. Zach came through with his best performance of the year! Zach finished with a top 10 finish and in the process set a new Canadian Record breaking the existing mark set 12 years ago.
Zach competed at the Commonwealth Games and placed 9th in the Individual pursuit, 8th in points race and 5th in the scratch. In the scratch race he was in a break with the current Scratch race World Champion and they lapped the field five times! His World Cup ranking earned Canada a spot in individual pursuit at the World Championships in Bordeaux, France. Zach managed a 14th place in the Individual pursuit and an 18th place in the Madison.
