The Yukon is home to several world-class facilities for sporting events. They include the Canada Games Centre, Whitehorse Nordic Centre, Pepsi Softball Complex and the F.H. Collins Track and Field Complex.

 

Our venues accommodate numerous activities — summer and winter — indoors and outdoors. The state-of-the-art track meets IAAF standards. Many centres provide recreation opportunities for all ages and groups and are accessible to seniors, children and people with disabilities.

CANADA GAMES CENTRE

The Canada Games Center is a multi-purpose venue located in the heart of Yukon’s capital city, Whitehorse. The centre is the largest venue of its kind in Northern Canada and one of a few in Western Canada. It is conveniently located just minutes from Whitehorse hotels.

Built as a host venue for the 2007 Canada Winter Games, it houses two arenas, a flexihall, a fieldhouse, aquatic centre, and flexible event space — it really does offer it all. From national-level sporting events to small meetings, the Canada Games Centre pairs warm Yukon hospitality with exceptional competition.

A Team Yukon curler leaves the hack

MOUNT MCINTYRE RECREATION CENTRE

The Mount McIntyre Recreation Center is home to a world-class curling facility. It’s situated above the Canada Games Centre on Sumanik Drive and has hosted many large-scale curling events at both regional and national levels. 

Memorable events include the 2006 Canadian Mixed Championships, the 2007 Canada Winter Games, the Skookum World Curling Tour in 2007 and a TSN Skins Game in 1999.

Special Features:

  • 8 sheets of top-notch curling ice, with portable bleachers available for seating
  • 6 sheets of ice were utilized for the 2007 Canada Games competition; the other two were used for temporary seating to create a seating capacity of 585
  • The Eleventh End Lounge has a seating capacity of over 200, accommodating everything from league nights to national championships
  • A convention floor plus two additional rooms are available for banquets or meetings
  • A large parking lot to accommodate players and spectators, and additional parking is available at the nearby Canada Games Centre

Snowboarders navigate the Mount Sima terrain park

MOUNT SIMA

Located only 20 minutes from downtown Whitehorse, Mount Sima is the perfect destination for alpine sports. It was the venue for the 2007 Canada Winter Games as well as the 2012 Arctic Winter Games. It hosts teams from across Canada every year for pre-season training, including national snowboard and freestyle ski teams

Sima now boasts over 2 km of terrain in its parks for freestyle and boardercross. New jib features pop up every season, and innovative snow features keep things fresh in the park.

Mount Sima also offers a full rental shop, cafeteria and lounge.

MOUNTAIN VIEW GOLF CLUB

Canada’s most northern 18 Hole Championship Golf Course invites you to take advantage of Yukon’s long hours of sunlight summer golf. Mountain View Golf Club is nestled along the banks of the prosperous Yukon River, with breathtaking sights of surrounding mountain ranges and unforgettable views of the colourful and mighty waters.

A 2017 World Softball Game at the Pepsi Centre

PEPSI SOFTBALL CENTRE

An outstanding fastpitch and slo-pitch facility less than ten minutes from downtown Whitehorse, the Pepsi Softball Centre is an ideal location for events, participants and spectators. The 2008 Junior Men’s World Championship and the 2021 Women’s World Championship were hosted here.

Two competition fields and three practice fields make up the facility. The competition fields have a seating capacity of 3,000 plus standing room; additional bleachers can be added. An on-site concession offers refreshments

With daylight virtually around the clock, the sunshine outlasts any extended evening play.

TAKHINI ARENA

The Takhini Arena is a 1,535 seat multi-purpose arena. It played host to the 2007 Canada Winter Games ice hockey and ringette competitions and did again during the 2012 Arctic Winter Games.

WHITEHORSE NORDIC CENTRE

The Whitehorse Nordic Centre offers 85 km of world-class ski trails for classic and skate skiing and snowshoeing. An additional 20 km of ungroomed single track are available for snowshoeing and ski touring. The Centre is adjacent to the Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre.

The Nordic Centre was host to the 2012 Arctic Winter Games and the 2010 Haywood Ski Nationals. It was also the host of the 2007 Canada Winter Games.

Special Features:

  • 85 km of regularly groomed ski trains, including 5 km of lit trails for night skiing
  • Ski stadium with a viewing area for spectators
  • A chalet is located next to the trails and includes a heated waxing area, ski racks for day storage, ski lockers and washrooms, as well as change rooms, showers and saunas
  • Meeting and banquet space (2,900 ft2)  is available in the Grey Mountain Room
  • On-site parking and an overflow parking lot

YUKON UNIVERSITY

You’ve got a personal invitation from Yukon University to consider using Ayamdigut Campus facilities for your next special event or conference. Groups up to 100 can be hosted at any time of the year, while larger groups are welcome from the end of April through to the end of August.

Special Features:

  • Large gymnasium available for trade shows, exhibitions, plenary sessions or formal dinners
  • The gymnasium can fit 1284 standing and 294 in the bleachers

F.H. COLLINS TRACK AND FIELD COMPLEX

An eight-lane, 400-metre rubberized track built to International Amateur Athletic Federation standards is the centrepiece in this multi-million dollar track and field facility. It is Whitehorse’s new home for athletics and many other sports. The track surrounds the regulation-sized soccer pitch.

The complex provides the territory with the ability to host national events and major games, such as the Western Canada Summer Games and the Canada 55+ Games. The track and field complex has been called a dream come true and opens opportunities for Paralympic sports.

Grey Mountain Biathlon Range

The Grey Mountain Biathlon Range offers 45 kilometres of trails for ski and snowshoe biathlon, including a one-kilometre lighted trail. 

The range was host to the 2012 Arctic Winter Games, as well as the 2007 Canada Winter Games.

The Dawson City golf course.

DAWSON CITY GOLF COURSE

This northernmost golf course with greens is Dawson City's best kept secret. Located across the Yukon River, the Dawson City Golf Course is open May to September annually. 

A quick ride on the George Black Ferry and a scenic drive down the Top of the World Highway will get you to the nine-hole wilderness course. Play a round, hit a few balls at the driving range, or simply enjoy the incredible wildlife viewing opportunities from the clubhouse patio. 

Enjoy tee times as late at 12 a.m., in the land of the Midnight Sun.
